All About Me

An Introduction: "Written December 2024"

Growing up my parents ran their own construction business. I watched them work day in and day out to provide an amazing life for my two siblings and I, and I know that the three of us will always be grateful for the life we got to live.

As we grew in to adults, the life lessons they taught us have shaped us in to the people we are today, and we now pass those on to our own children. My daughter is my entire world, and I want to make her proud by showing her that yes you can follow your dreams, and you don't need to get stuck in the mundane life of unsatisfaction. I do this for her.

The reasoning behind the business being called Harpiste is the simple fact that it is my daughters name in Latin, and what could be a better name for it? A company ran by a woman, named after another.

I first started Harpiste in January of 2023 but I never put all my energy in to it. Staying in an industry I had been part of for over a decade was much easier, and safer, to do but I knew in my heart that I couldn't be in the hospitality industry forever. . So there I was a month before Christmas, moving in to my new home, with a mortgage and no job. I will admit I panicked...Alot. But with the support of my amazing family and friends I decided to take the plunge and do the thing I had been dreaming about.

So this is where we are now, starting a new business, in a new industry, in a new home and I couldn't be more afraid. But as W. Clement Stone once said "Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will"

So if anyone needs me I will hopefully be covered in paint or wallpaper paste, doing what I love and making people fall in love with their homes.

Thank you for reading,

Amy,
Owner of Harpiste

"November 2025"

So here we are, almost a year in to my full time self employed life, and let me tell you it has been an adventure. Its true what they say about going self employed, yes you are your own boss but you work twice as hard to get half the rewards.

These past few months have taught me so much but most of all it has taught me to be brave and to be bold. I have met some of the most wonderful people with amazing stories of their own and each time I am grateful for being able to do the job I do.

I have had the pleasure of hanging wallpaper with monkeys on, working with all manner of four legged friends, paint ceilings and walls bright colours but most of all, I have made my clients smile helping them turn their houses in to the homes they all deserve. I cannot thank everyone for their kindness and support for my small but growing business.

I look forward to what I will accomplish this next year of business, and whose paths I will cross. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy new year from me, my daughter and our two sausage dogs Winnie and Willow!
